The International Fellowship of Christians and Jews of Australia is an organisation that works to build a better relationship between the Jews and the Christians. Born out of a desire to foster understanding and better relations between the Christians and Jews of Australia, the organisation encourages and creates avenues for cooperation between the two communities, especially on issues of biblical concern shared by both of them.
These issues and misunderstandings did not just start overnight. The mistrust, ignorance, and fear between the Christians and Jews have gone on for about 2,000 years. One of the most problematic areas between the two communities is the relationship between the Jews and the Evangelicals. Issues inevitably arise that create tension and ill will between the communities.
There is still a lot of prejudice and misunderstandings between the Christians and the Jews today. We believe that this misunderstanding exists due to a lack of communication between the communities. We believe that this lack of communication between the communities results in the loss of so many cooperation opportunities between the religions on their shared concerns.
The International Fellowship of Christians and Jews of Australia carries out activities to build a bridge to connect the Jews and Christians. We believe that if we’re able to foster an environment where that communication gap is bridged, there will be more understanding and peace between the communities.
The fellowship raises funds among its partners, which is used to help Jews who are in need and Jews who live under the threat of anti-Semitism across five continents. The fellowship’s programs include Aliyah to Israel, the provision of necessities to families in need, the elderly and children in Israel, provision of necessities like food, clothing, and shelter to needy Jews.
The fellowship also provides educational and informational materials that teach people how to better advocate for the Jewish state.
Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein created the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews of Australia. The Rabbi was concerned with promoting greater understanding between Christians and Jews and building Christian support for Israel, among other shared concerns.
The fellowship is not unlike its sister organisation in the United States’ existence in function and an organisation. The Australian chapter of the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews operates under the founder, Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein. An independent Board of Directors governs it with representation from both faith communities who share the same passion for building bridges between the Jewish and Christian communities.
Our vision is that the Christians and Jews would overcome the 2,000 years of discord and mistrust and build a relationship through dialogue, respect, better understanding, fellowship, and cooperation on shared concern issues.
Our mission is to foster better understanding and relations between the Jews and the Christians, build support for the state of Israel, and foster cooperation towards building a more moral society through dialogue, sensitisation, and the Education of people of faith all around the world.
The International Fellowship of Christians and Jews of Australia is a non-profit organisation.
